Key Stage
Key Stage 1
Key Stage 1 covers a child’s time in year 1 and year 2. Formerly known as ‘Infants’. At the end of Key Stage 1, all students take Standard Assessment Tests (SATs) in the core subjects of English, Mathematics and Science. In year 2 children will take KS1 SATs exams that test children on their English, Maths and Science. In key stage one, children are usually aged between 5 and 7 years old. The Year 1 age group is 5-6 years old, and the Year 2 age group is 6-7 years old.
